Moving one oversized module requires careful planning. Moving 240 modules of four different sizes across 210 individual trips requires a coordinated transport programme.

MFC Extreme Projects recently supported a data centre project in Ajman, managing the road transportation of prefabricated modules from Jebel Ali Industrial Area to the project site in Ajman.

The scope covered 240 modules, ranging considerably in size and weight. The largest units measured 16.5 metres long, 3.7 metres wide and 4.21 metres high, with a gross weight of 53 tonnes. The longest modules extended beyond 17 metres in length

MFC coordinated the required road permits and transport arrangements while managing the movement of the different modules in order so the site could offload in the correct order.

Projects of this type demonstrate how modular construction is changing the logistics behind major infrastructure developments. Instead of materials arriving individually for conventional construction, increasingly large sections of a facility can arrive as completed modules — shifting more of the logistical challenge to the planning, transport, and lifting stages.

For MFC, the project cargo planning, out-of-gauge road transport, authorisations,  and operational coordination with loading point and site, were critical for the smooth and successful delivery for the client.
