MFC builds the 2nd Food Bank for Dubai Municipality

MFC Concepts built the 2nd food bank for Dubai Municipality and there are more to come… MFC was selected to build 10 UAE Food banks on behalf of Dubai Municipality, which are to be installed at various locations in Dubai.  The Food banks include Food storage containers, an office container and a small ablution block.

Marking World Food Day, Dubai Municipality officially launched the second UAE Food Bank at Al Bada area on 16 Oct’17.

MFC creates a stir at ADIPEC 2016

ADIPEC, one of the most influential Oil and Gas exhibitions in the Middle East was held from 7-10 November 2016 at ADNEC,Abu Dhabi, UAE.

Modern Freight Company being one of the exhibitors this year showcased our manufacturing capabilities by focusing on our container conversions and fabrication capabilities for the Oil&Gas, Marine, Power and Petroleum Sectors.

Being well known specialists in the oil and gas, mining, marine and construction industry, from document storage and food supply containers, generator houses and explosive units, Mobile hospitals, control rooms, prayer Rooms to fire proof and sound proof containers MFC is capable of offering Container Conversions and Modular Fabrications with a vast range of uses to satisfy each and every customer

MFC is also capable of manufacturing fully certified DNV offshore containers which are built to a much higher specification than the usual ISO containers. The converted containers are of various sizes ranging from 20ft and 40 ft in length, 8ft wide and 8.5 ft/9.5 ft in height which can be relocated to any location around the world.

Update on status of Port Hamad, Qatar

As of 23 October, 2017 an update received from the QATAR PORTS MANAGEMENT COMPANY states that:

The free time for import containers in the yard – both dry and reefer – is currently 7 days which is more than enough for the consignees to clear and receive their containers but due to the increase of the dwell time at Hamad Port , kindly note the following :

-              Full import containers dwell time increased up to 12 days instead of 7 days .

-              Export empty containers dwell time increased up to 8 days instead of 6 days.

-              Import reefer containers dwell time increased up to 10 days instead of 5 days.

In view of the above , and to avoid port congestion and negative impact on the port performance , all are requested to contact their consignees and clear their boxes within the free days timeframe .

New Customs Rule from 19 Oct’17 at Kuwait

Kindly be advised that a new rule is implemented by Kuwait customs authority effective (19 Oct 2017) onwards.
 

All shipments of FCL/LCL - IMPORT/EXPORT cargo should be palletized.

  • If cargo found NOT palletized upon custom inspection the container/cargo will be stopped by customs.
  • Customs will issue a penalty of KD 80/- to the customer directly.
  • Only when the penalty of KD 80/- is paid the container/cargo will be released.
  • This is implemented as immediate effect from 19 Oct 2017 onwards.

 

Design and Manufacturing of Substation Building

Design and Manufacturing of Substation Building

A substation building 28m x 6m and weighing 110MT was designed and manufactured for the Zohr project in Egypt by MFC Cargo Container Concept.

The building includes an equipment room as well as a battery room. Fixtures include lighting, HVAC system, fire alarm and a suppression system.

 

The Atacama Rally, Chile : August 2017

On the Atacama Rally 2017:

MFC’s Air Services team handled a time-bound shipment of 2 KTM motorbikes for Vendetta Racing (a UAE based team) who participated in the Atacama Rally 2017 held in Chile in Aug 2017. From the ATACAMA Desert these bikes were collected and airfreighted to the United Kingdom, and finally sent back to Dubai.  With considerable effort and coordination, this time-sensitive shipment arrived on-time and in good shape. 

 

Dubai Clean Coal Power Plant Project

MFC successfully cleared and delivered 4,200 CBM of breakbulk construction components for Dubai's Clean Coal power plant project, over a span of just 11 days.

The Scope of work handled by MFC was:

Customs clearance from the port

Arrange loading, lashing and securing on to the trailer

Transportation to the project site using special long trailers (18m, 15m and normal 12m and normal flat-bed trailers)

After professional loading and lashing, 138 trips were done to deliver the entire shipment .

 

2nd phase of the Dubai Clean Coal project

2nd phase of the Dubai Clean Coal project

Deliveries continue to Dubai Clean Coal power plant, with an additional 9,000 cbm scheduled for delivery before mid-August.

The 2nd phase of the Dubai Clean Coal power plant project will start on 25 July 2017. A movement of 4800 cbm is expected to be completed over a period of 10 days, based on a mix of direct and indirect delivery.

This oversize cargo (18 meters long and 3.8 meters in width) is only permitted to move overnight, and requires special equipment. Approximately 170 trips will be required, to deliver the cargo to the project site, located about 25 kms from Jebel Ali port .

MFC’s container concepts are contracted to build more Food Banks in UAE.

Doors open in Dubai for the business of giving as plans develop for 30 other outlets that will also help to curb waste.

DUBAI // Low-income families and labourers will be able to get food donated by hotels and supermarkets after the country’s first food bank was launched.

Stocked with boxes of food as part of the Year of Giving, the food bank aims to help provide for the less fortunate while reducing food waste.

“The UAE Food Bank represents one of the most humanitarian values in the UAE, and is well on its way to becoming one of the country’s largest humanitarian institutions, widely spreading the culture of giving within a sustainable institutional framework,” said Sheikha Hind bint Maktoum Al Maktoum, chairwoman of the UAE Food Bank Board of trustees.

Hussain Nasser Lootah, director general of Dubai Municipality and deputy chairman and managing director of the UAE Food Bank, said plans were under way to launch many more food bank outlets soon.

New investment to meet business demands

In order to further enhance our container storage and conversion operations, MFC Cargo Container Concept has recently procured a unit of KALMAR 8 ton Container Side Loader. This new side loader with advanced features is able to lift up to 8 tons at a stacking height of 5 levels of containers and can be easily maneuvered in narrow and confined spaces.

With the procurement of this new and more advanced side loader, MFC has envisaged that the service deliverable will be faster and more efficient. “The new equipment will definitely sustain our highest degree of customer service as we ramp up for the growth we anticipate in the immediate future,” says Nick Trott, General Manager of MFC.

New Gate Entry Procedure at JAFZA from 1st Aug 2017

New Gate Pass entry procedure at JAFZA from 1st August 2017

Effective Aug 1, 2017, Jafza will discontinue issuing manual Exit/Entry documents at Jebel Ali Customs Counter.

 

The new Local Good Gate Pass e-Service (LGP) allows you to generate LGP documents to issue multiple e-Gate Passes for the movement of local cargo In/Out of the Free Zone.  Gate Pass then can be generated using the newly created LGP document.

The new service is intuitive, user friendly and can be completed in following steps:

1.      Login and select “Request LGP Document”

2.      Enter the required details along with Customer Reference No., Local Company Details, Goods Coming from & Purpose of Entry.

3.      Upload packing list and Commercial Invoice

4.      Submit and Generate LGP Document Number.

5.      Issue e-Gate Pass using the LGP document to facilitate In/Out Cargo Movement

MFC supports a range of charities including charitable organizations dedicated to the health and welfare of the needy children within UAE.

MFC recently made substantial donations to local charities – ‘SENSES’, a residential care for children with special needs and ‘Al Noor Charity’, a training center for children with special needs.

MFC supports positive changes to the society through corporate giving, partnerships with charitable organizations, and the volunteer efforts of its employees. The company also operates on the 'Reduce, Re-use and Recycle' philosophy to minimize waste. Our recycling program involving waste collection and using the services of waste recycling companies to dispose them off.
